Working in close collaboration with the project’s delivery partners, the design process was turned on its head to accelerate design, procurement and fabrication, which eliminated a significant amount of temporary works and led to a faster, cheaper build.
Stadium design architects driver#
The primary design driver of the stadium was to maximise the game day experience for all spectators with atmosphere, enclosure and proximity to the action as the key focus areas. The stadium also offers high-quality food and beverage facilities, as well as providing expansive pedestrian and public plaza areas with large flexible green space for informal gatherings and events for the public to enjoy. This is achieved through the stadium’s key features, which include the steepest stands of any venue in Australia with comfortable seating for 30 000 spectators, five levels of premium, corporate and function spaces, advanced technology, WiFi and broadcast facilities, large LED screens and improved security.
The first major project under the stadia strategy, CommBank Stadium caters to a larger volume of spectators, bringing them closer to the action than ever before.
